なんかねぇ、
昔からすごく好きな曲なの。
Rupert Holmesの「ESCAPE」。
 
子供心に、
「わぁお！すごぉく、ロマァンティィィィック！」
と思ってたわけなんですけれども。
 
大人になってみると、
まぁ、この曲に対する賛否両論だとか、
たしかに鑑みるに、
「おい！」
って部分も実際あったりして、
まぁ、日本人の美意識に合わない気もしつつ。
 
でもやっぱり、
こういう愛のカタチは素敵です。
異論は認める。

I was tired of my lady, we’d been together too long.

So while she lay there sleeping, I read the paper in bed.
And in the personals column, there was this letter I read:

So I waited with high hopes, then she walked in the place.
I knew her smile in an instant, I knew the curve of her face.
It was my own lovely lady, and she said, “Oh, it’s you.”
And we laughed for a moment, and I said, “I never knew”..

俺は、もうあんまり長く一緒に居過ぎたもんだから、彼女に飽きちまってさ。
なんつーか、すっげー好きな曲のレコードがすり減っちゃった感じ？
んでさ、彼女が寝てる間にさ、俺はベッドで新聞を読んでたわけ。
そしたらさ、お便りコーナーにこんなのが載ってたのよ。
 
「ピニャ・コラーダが好きで、雨が好きなひといますか？
もし貴方が、健康ヲタクじゃなくて、頭でっかちでもなくて、
深夜に岬で愛を交わすのが好きなひとなら、
私こそ、貴方が探しているタイプの女性です。お手紙下さい。
一緒にエスケープしましょう」
 
 
俺はもう彼女のことを考えるのが嫌になってたからさ、
これはうってつけの方法に思えたわけよ。
だって俺たちはもう長らく単調なルーチンの繰り返しだったからさ。
だから俺は新聞の例の彼女に宛てて手紙を書いたのさ。
無名の詩人、ってイカしたもんでもないけどさ、ずいぶんといい文章が書けたってぇもんだ！
 
「こんにちは。僕はピニャ・コラーダも、雨も好きですよ。
健康食品なんかよりも、シャンパンを浴びるように飲みたい男です。
堅苦しいことは抜きにして、オマリーのバーで明日のお昼に会いましょう。
そこで、二人でエスケープする計画を練りませんか？」
 
 
そんで、俺は期待して待ってたわけよ。
すると一人の女性が入ってきたのさ。
見るとさ、その笑顔も、その輪郭も、あれ、俺、知ってるぞ！と思ったのよ。
そりゃそうだ。俺の彼女じゃねぇか！
「まぁ！あなた！」と彼女が言ったんで、
俺らはひとしきり笑い転げてさ、
